BabyBites is operated by Conatus Labs Inc. ("Conatus Labs," "we," "us," or "our").
This Privacy Policy explains how BabyBites handles information when you use the BabyBites mobile app.
BabyBites is an AI-assisted educational food and nutrition guidance app for people trying to conceive or already expecting. BabyBites does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
1. Information We Collect
We may collect or process the following information when you use BabyBites:
Profile Information
- Name or nickname
- Optional profile photo
- Selected mode, such as preparing for conception or already expecting
- Optional food preferences, allergies, sensitivities, or foods you choose to avoid
Food Guidance Inputs
- Text questions you ask about foods, drinks, ingredients, or things you may take
- Food or drink photos you choose to scan
- Voice questions you record
- Transcriptions of voice questions
- Extra details you choose to add after a scan
Food Guidance Results
- AI-assisted food safety analysis
- Nutrition estimates from photo scans, when available
- Whether a result was marked Safe, Caution, or Avoid
- Your logged decision, such as Had it, Skipped it, or Not sure
- Food history and nutrition history stored by the app
Device and Diagnostic Information
We may process limited technical information needed to operate, debug, and improve the app, such as app version, device type, crash reports, error logs, and performance diagnostics.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide food and drink safety guidance
- Generate AI-assisted analysis from text, voice, and photo inputs
- Estimate nutrition details from food photos
- Save your food history and nutrition history
- Personalize guidance based on your selected mode and food preferences
- Improve app reliability, safety, and user experience
- Improve BabyBites and Conatus Labs products, services, safety systems, research, and user experience
- Conduct analytics, testing, quality assurance, and internal studies
- Develop de-identified or aggregated insights about food guidance, app usage, safety patterns, and product performance
- Respond to support requests
- Maintain security and prevent misuse
3. AI Processing
BabyBites uses third-party AI services to process food questions, photos, and voice inputs.
When you submit a question, scan, or voice request, the relevant content may be sent to an AI provider so BabyBites can generate a response.
This may include:
- Food or drink questions
- Food photos
- Voice recordings or transcriptions
- Food preferences or allergy context you provide
- The selected app mode needed to tailor the response
We do not permit third-party AI providers to train their general models on identifiable BabyBites user content unless we obtain appropriate consent. Where provider settings are available, we configure services to restrict training on identifiable user content.
We may use de-identified or aggregated content to improve BabyBites, safety, and quality.
AI can make mistakes. BabyBites should not be used as a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
4. De-Identified, Aggregated, and Derived Information
We may create de-identified, aggregated, or derived information from information processed by BabyBites.
We may use, disclose, license, or commercialize de-identified, aggregated, or derived information for research, product improvement, studies, benchmarking, analytics, safety, business, or other lawful purposes.
We do not attempt to re-identify users from de-identified information, except as permitted or required by law.
5. Research and Studies
We may conduct internal product research and studies using de-identified or aggregated information.
If we conduct formal health-related research, clinical research, or human-subject studies, we will use separate consent and ethics review where required.
6. Food Preferences and Allergy Information
If you provide allergies, sensitivities, dietary restrictions, or foods you avoid, BabyBites uses that information to tailor food guidance.
This information is treated as user-provided context. It is not treated as an instruction to override safety rules or system safeguards.
You should always verify allergy and medical concerns with a qualified healthcare professional.
7. Photos and Voice
Photos
When you scan a food or drink, the image may be processed to generate food safety guidance and nutrition estimates.
Voice
When you use voice input, your recording may be processed to create a transcription and answer your food-related question.
8. Local Storage
BabyBites may store profile information, onboarding choices, food history, nutrition history, and decision logs on your device.
If you delete the app, locally stored app data may be deleted from your device, subject to your device and operating system behavior.
9. Third-Party Services
BabyBites may use third-party service providers to operate the app, including:
OpenAI
Used to provide AI-assisted food, drink, photo, and voice analysis.
Apple
Used for App Store distribution, TestFlight, in-app purchases if enabled, and operating system services.
Sentry or Similar Diagnostics Tools
May be used to collect crash reports, error logs, and performance diagnostics if enabled.
RevenueCat
May be used to manage subscription status if subscriptions are enabled.
These providers process information according to their own terms and privacy policies.
10. Payments
If BabyBites offers paid subscriptions or purchases, payments are processed by Apple through the App Store.
We do not receive your full payment card details.
We may receive limited subscription information, such as whether a subscription is active, expired, or canceled.
11. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not share personal information with data brokers.
We do not use personal information for third-party advertising or cross-app tracking.
If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy, update our app privacy disclosures where required, and request consent where required by law or platform rules.
We may use, disclose, license, or commercialize de-identified, aggregated, or derived information as described above.
We may share information only as needed to:
- Operate BabyBites
- Process AI requests
- Provide customer support
- Process subscriptions, if enabled
- Diagnose crashes or technical issues
- Comply with legal obligations
- Protect the safety, rights, and security of users, Conatus Labs, or others
12. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary to provide BabyBites, support users, improve safety and reliability, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes.
Data stored locally on your device remains there unless deleted through app functionality, device settings, or app deletion.
13. Your Choices and Rights
You may choose not to provide optional information, such as a profile photo or food preferences.
You may choose not to use photo scans or voice input.
You may delete food history where the app provides deletion controls.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent. We may need to verify your request before responding.
You may opt out of optional research or studies where those are based on consent.
You may opt out of marketing communications if we send any.

14. Children's Privacy
BabyBites is not intended for children under 13.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

BabyBites provides educational food and nutrition guidance only.
BabyBites does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
AI-assisted assessments can be incomplete, inaccurate, or inappropriate for your specific circumstances.
Always consult your healthcare provider, registered dietitian, or another qualified professional for medical, pregnancy, fertility, nutrition, allergy, or health-related decisions.
16. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
17. International Processing
Information may be processed in the United States, Canada, or other locations where we or our service providers operate.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time.
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
